4-star guard Trent Frazier from Wellington (Fla.) is set to ink with Illinois on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. ET. Frazier says he’s excited about making his college choice official. He committed to the Illini in August after John Groce and his staff made him a priority.

“My entire family will be there tomorrow and coaches and also most of the students will be there supporting me,” Frazier said. “I want to thank my mom and dad for giving me this opportunity and my coaching staff and my trainer for getting me to the next level to have this chance to sign to a D1 basketball school. I'm excited and I can’t wait.”

A left-handed combo guard, Frazier can score and facilitate. Even if he doesn’t crack the starting lineup next season as a freshman, Frazier should play major minutes.

Groce and his staff were one of the first high major programs to take a serious look at Frazier, and that relationship paid off for the Illini in the end.

“For two years now they've believed in me through this whole process they have stuck by me for a long time,” Frazier said. “I appreciate everything they have done. I've been there No. 1 priority for a while now and that's what really made me fall in love with the school. “

Frazier took his official visit to Illinois shortly before committing. His relationship with Groce continued to grow throughout the summer and fall.

“Illinois was my first college visit ever and it felt like home,” Frazier said. “Coach Groce is an awesome guy and it's not all about basketball when choosing your school. We have made an unbelievable relationship. We communicate every day and the coaching staff makes me feel like I'm already a part of the team. They’re a second family to me and that's why I chose this school. I can't wait to be a part of their program.”

Frazier is part of a four-man Illinois recruiting class, joining in-state prospects Da’Monte Williams, Jeremiah Tilmon, and Javon Pickett. Tilmon is a 5-star big man from East St. Louis.

“I think we have a really good class,” Frazier said. “Big Tilmon down low is a beast and we have some really good wings that can play. I really think our class is going to be able to compete with anyone and have a really good season.”

IN HIS WORDS

Trent Frazier: "The way I play fits their style of play. I like the up-tempo play and that's what Coach Groce wants. My best attribute is getting my teammates involved first, but I think I can score the ball anytime I want. I can shoot the ball from anywhere on the court. Playing off the pick and roll is my favorite. I think I'm at my best when I'm in that type of offense."
