Texas wide receiver holds Illinois offer
Illinois has had some recruiting success in the state of Texas recently, and Lovie Smith and his staff hope to keep that rolling into the Class of 2019 as well.
Among their targets is Lancaster (Texas) three-star wide-receiver Jayce Medlock, who received an offer from the Illini back in April. Although it was months ago, the 6-foot-3, 200-pound prospect still cherishes the moment.
“Illinois was my first offer, so that always sticks out,” Medlock said. “I remember my head coach pulled me out of class real quick and we went to his office. We got Coach Stoker on the phone, and he offered me right then. It was such a great feeling knowing I was going to get the opportunity to play at the next level, and I’m glad it was from a program like Illinois.”
