St. Louis RB looking for his first offer

St. Louis (MO) John Burroughs junior athlete Jake Bain has had a busy spring, with an appearance in the Chicago area at the Opening camp and lots of new exposure with his recruiting process.

He also recently visited Illinois and has a high level of interest in the school.

"I absolutely loved Illinois,” he said. “Everything from the campus, to the facilities, to the coaching staff. I could really tell that Coach Smith and his new staff are really creating a winning mentality that is contagious.”

A versatile athlete, Bain worked out at The Opening as a wideout and he was happy with his performance. He hopes the performance will kick-start his recruitment.

"The opening went really well,” Bain said. “I went as a wide receiver and did very well in one-on-one's. It was a good chance for me to get some more exposure.

This off-season, the 6-foot, 180-pound receiver and running back has several things he's focusing on.

"I learned a lot about improving my foot work and running more precise routes,” he said. “As I am becoming more of a dual-threat running back and wide receiver combo, I think it is very important for me to continue to work on my route running and foot work.”

Bain said his recruitment is wide open at the moment. He’s still looking for his first off.

Bain can play several positions at the high school level, at the college level that is attractive for colleges.

"I think coaches best see me as an H-back, where I can be in the backfield taking handoffs, as well as catching passes in the slot. I think my versatility is what the coaches like the most," Bain said.

As the season approaches, Bain has several more things to tick off his list.

"I would like to try and put on some weight and get faster, along with sharpening up my route running, and hopefully getting a few offers under my belt," Bain said.
