Sharma plans official visit

Josh Sharma took an unofficial visit to Illinois last week and it went better than expected.
Sharma is a 7-foot center from Northfield (Mass.) Mt Hermon. John Groce offered the big man last winter, and since then other offers have followed. Touring the Midwest, Sharma paid the Illini a visit along with a few other schools that are pursuing his services.

Sharma currently has twelve offers to choose from when the time comes. Since Groce was in early, Sharma will make a return trip to Champaign.
"I think as of now I will take an official visit to Illinois sometime in the fall," Sharma said. "When I visited it went really well. I enjoyed hanging out with the coaching staff there. I learned more about the school itself and the basketball program."
Since receiving the before mentioned offers, the attention the big man has received is sometimes overwhelming. But he certainly understands why. Once again, the Illini faithful have shown their dedication and support to a recruit on social media.
"Illinois has been very good since I got the offer from the staff," Sharma said. "I have to say Illinois and Wisconsin fans have shown me the most support so far of any school."
Sharma does not have a favorite or a top five, but he likes what he sees from Groce.
"I like what (Groce) is trying to do with his program," Sharma said. "When I visited there we talked about how they develop their player's skills. He also talked about how he could use me at different places on the court."
Groce heads up the recruiting, but assistant Dustin Ford is heavily involved with Sharma. They have developed a great relationship with each other.
Sharma is trying to build strength this summer. In time, this will be a big asset for the slender 205 pound center. His outside feathery touch added to his passing skills have coaches drooling over his potential.
Along with Illinois, Sharma has offers from Boston College, Maryland, Connecticut, Marquette, Norte Dame, Wisconsin, Oklahoma State, and others.
