The Illini went into Madison hoping to end a six-game Big Ten losing streak that had seen three overtime losses, a buzzer beater and a second half lead in every game. Illinois had competed in every game and battled to the end. They decided to allow Illini fans to turn the channel early on Friday night, coming out listless and lacking energy and effort in an embarrassing 75-50 loss to a Badger team that was far from healthy and had been struggling in their own right.

Leron Black did score 16 points, but still had four turnovers to offset some great shot making. Trent Frazier had 11 points and five assists, but shot just 5-14 and had four turnovers of his own. No doubt some guys played hard, but overall it was a poor effort, and a poor game plan going in.

The Illini fall to 10-10 and 0-7 in Big Ten play with #9 Michigan State coming to town on Monday night. Here’s a breakdown of what happened.
