Quick update: Elijah Thomas

Big man Elijah Thomas from Lancaster (Texas) is taking a new attitude when he takes the court these days, and why not. He returned this past weekend after missing time due to an injury.
The 6-foot-9, 5-star prospect was in action with Team Texas Elite at the Reebok Breakout camp on the campus of Philadelphia University.

"My games went well," Thomas said. "I'm getting my groove back. I have a whole different attitude to the game now. I'm always smiling and giving the fans a show. This end of the summer will be one to remember."
Illinois cracked Thomas' top ten back in March, along with USC, Florida, Memphis, Texas, Oregon, Ohio State, SMU, Oklahoma State, and UNLV.
OrangeandBlueNews recently placed Thomas on the Block I Report, our list of players that Illinois has the best chance to sign.
According to Thomas, Groce and assistant coaches Jamall Walker and Dustin Ford shadowed him over the weekend, and continue to show a lot of attention.
"I'm very serious about Illinois," Thomas said. "I've been one of their top targets since my 10th grade year."
In one game, Thomas scored 24 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and dished out five assists. With two more evaluation periods on tap in July, Thomas wants to continue to get back in playing shape and lead his team to wins.
"I'm not satisfied with things," Thomas said. "We have a long way to go as a team and we're just getting started."
There's an interesting wrinkle to the Illini's recruitment of Thomas. Groce is also hot after point guard Jawun Evans, another Team Texas star.
A package deal is a possibility. When asked if he and Evans talked about playing college basketball together, Thomas responded, "More than people would ever know (laughter)."
