Illinois added its third commitment from the Transfer Portal on Tuesday evening with a pledge from former Colorado State tight end Tanner Arkin.
Arkin joins offensive lineman Avery Jones (ECU) and defensive back Nicario Harper ( Louisville).in announcing their intent to transfer to Illinois.
This past season at Colorado State, Arkin had 14 catches for 116 yards in 12 games of action. Rivals.com listed him as the No. 24 tight end that was available in the Transfer Portal.
Arkin announce in late November his intention to enter the Transfer Portal. He fills a need for the Illini, who graduate tight ends Luke Ford and Michael Marchese.
Illinois landed Arkin over offers from multiple Power 5 schools, including Pittsburgh, Missouri, and Oklahoma State.
Arkin was a two-star prospect coming out of Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Collins, Colorado in the class of 2021.
He was a two-way player in high school. Rivals listed Arkin as an outside linebacker. He also played basketball and track, qualifying for state in the discus.
Arkin took an official visit with the Fighting Illini over the weekend and will enroll at mid-year with three years of eligibility remaining.
