Offered QB hopes to visit Illinois

Illinois was the first offer for 2018 quarterback Cordel Littlejohn.

The prolific passer will suit up for a new high school in 2017. He hopes to make it up to Champaign in the next few months.

Littlejohn and his family are on the move. After playing last year at Lincolnton (NC), Littlejohn enrolled in January at Georgia powerhouse Roswell High School.

At Lincolnton, Littlejohn threw for 3,655 yards, 50 touchdowns and seven interceptions last season. He also ran for 320 yards and six touchdowns on 76 carries.

Littlejohn said Illinois offensive coordinator Garrick McGee has been recruiting him, and he wanted to see some improvement to his mechanics before offering.

That offer came this winter after McGee liked what he saw on film, according to Littlejohn.

"Coach Garrick McGee offered me," Littlejohn said. "He had been looking at me for a while. Hopefully I will be able to make a trip up to Illinois sometime this summer."

Expect recruiting interest to pick up now that Littlejohn is at high-profile school. Littlejohn has a visit coming up later this month, and more trips in mind.

"I'm going to South Carolina on Feb. 25, and I want to go to Louisville in the summer," Littlejohn said.

In putting together huge numbers as a junior, Littlejohn said he excelled putting the ball in the air.

"As a quarterback, I think I'm more of a pocket passer," Littlejohn said. "I made a lot of big plays with my arm. If I need to I can take off and run out of the pocket."

Littlejohn talked about the skills he wants to improve at in the off season prior to his senior season.

"I want to get better with my mechanics, and I also want to be more explosive," Littlejohn said. "And my accuracy was good last year, but I always want to get better."
