Peru (Ill.) St. Bede Academy junior linebacker Brady Booker looks the part, standing 6-3, 210-pounds, and is getting plenty of interest on the recruiting trail from Northern Illinois, Illinois State, Western Michigan, Kansas and the Illini.

Sunday, he spent the day at Illinois junior day on campus and got more familiar with new Illini linebacker coach Tim McGarigle.

“I had a great time,” Booker said. “It’s good to see and talk with Coach McGarigle and the rest of the coaching staff again. I enjoyed getting to speak with him and hearing the exciting new vision of the Illinois football program under Coach Cubit.”

Booker has been praised for his aggressiveness, field speed and size — and likes what Illinois is doing on the field.

“I like everything they are trying to do. Their enthusiasm and plans for the Illini program is exciting. They have a clear vision of what they want and expect the best out of their players,” Booker said.

The coach that Booker has the closest relationship with, is linebackers coach Tim McGarigle.

“I greatly appreciate Coach McGarigle viewing me as a top prospect for the 2017 class. HIs feedback up to this point has been positive and encouraging. I look forward to coming back for spring football, meeting with McGarigle once again and continuing my recruiting process with the Illinois football program,” Booker said.

Coming, up Booker has a few visits to get planned but has already visited most of the schools on his list.

“My plans are to visit a few more junior days and attend a couple of spring football practices,” Booker said.

Overall, the recruiting process has been a fun one for Booker.

“On trips I have enjoyed being around quality programs and quality people. All of the facilities have been outstanding, but it is the coaches that have made it more personable and fun,” Booker said.
