Illinois guard Ayo Dosunmu declares for the NBA Draft
CHAMPAIGN – There was a desired return for taking care of the Unfinished Business, as Ayo Dosunmu called it a year ago by announcing his decision to return to the Illini basketball team for his sophomore year.
Dosunmu had just scratched the surface during that freshman season, when the Illini suffered through a long year but showed a pulse primarily because of Dosunmu, the former star at Chicago Morgan Park Academy.
But after his breakout season as a sophomore was shut down early by a worldwide pandemic, Dosunmu declared for the NBA Draft Wednesday through his Twitter account. While it wouldn’t be a surprise if Dosunmu heads off to professional basketball, the idled professional sports landscape might through such a curveball that Dosunmu might play it conservatively and return to the Illini for another season.
