Illinois football added its fourth member of the 2019 class on Wednesday night with a verbal commitment from Chicago (Ill.) Phillips cornerback Joseph Thompson.

Thompson, who stands at 5-foot-10, 160-pounds, was previously committed to Iowa State before flipping to the Illini.

“Growing up, I have always been an Illinois fan, and it has always been a dream of mine to play in Champaign,” Thompson said. “I have been spending a lot of time talking to my family and making sure I was making the right decision for us, and we all knew Illinois was the place I want to be.”
