Thursday, Aug. 4. The Illini held their first practice of camp on Thursday from 2:30 to approximately 4:30 on the east practice field.

Illinois football camp is underway. All of training camp, which runs Aug. 4-20, is open to the public and free to attend.
After holding preseason training camp off campus at “Camp Rantoul” for 17 of the last 18 years, the Illini will hold their entire 2016 training camp on campus at the grass practice fields next to Memorial Stadium. The Illini are set to scrimmage in Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 13.
Free parking will be available in the northeast State Farm Center lot (enter off Kirby Ave.). Fans are asked to enter the practice area through the southeast corner of Memorial Stadium just north of Kirby Avenue, near the corner of Fourth Street and Kirby.
A concessions trailer with drinks and snacks will be on hand just south of the practice fields, where fans enter southeast of Memorial Stadium. Following each practice, Fighting Illini players will sign autographs briefly on their way off the field.
The 2016 Fighting Illini will kick off the Lovie Smith era at Illinois on Sept. 3 when Murray State comes to Memorial Stadium. The Illini will be seeking their second bowl bid in the last three years and fourth in the last seven years.
