Oakley (Calif.) Freedom junior wide receiver Mekel Ealy made the long-distance trek to Champaign for a three-day unofficial visit from Tuesday through Thursday afternoon.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pound wideout had a full itinerary of activities, including a tour of campus, watching film with the wide-receiver group, watching several practices, and spending time with some of the coaches.

“I mostly enjoyed just spending time with coaches and the staff,” Ealy said. “I had a really good time overall. I liked how everyone was really welcoming, and I thought the campus was really nice as well.”
