Texas wide receiver holds Illini offer

Illinois has been active recruiting in the state of Texas. One of the latest prospects to pick up an offer from the Illini is 3-star wide receiver Jarek Broussard from Dallas Bishop Lynch.

Broussard is being recruited by Illini wide receivers coach Andrew Hayes-Stoker.

"We have been talking for the last few weeks, and we built a good relationship," Broussard said. "He played for TCU, and that was actually my first offer."

Hayes-Stoker was at Bishop Lynch High School last week and he extended the offer to Broussard.

Other offers so far are from Colorado, Colorado State, Houston, Tulane, Arkansas State, and Texas State. Broussard said coaches from Washington and Notre Dame have also dropped by his high school.

Now that he has the offer in hand, Broussard wants to get up to Champaign to check out the Illinois campus.

"I'll probably be visiting some time this summer," he said.

Last season, Broussard posted 2,478 all-purpose yards and 23 touchdowns, helping leading Bishop Lynch to a state title.

On film, Broussard is a versatile and allusive receiver. He can line up wide or in the slot and get the ball on quick hitters, go routes, and jet sweeps.

Broussard is also a dangerous return man who has the speed to make big plays.

"When I get the ball, I can turn nothing into something," he said. "On special teams, teams are afraid to kick me the ball."
