Super soph Adam Miller visits Illinois

2020 point guard Adam Miller from Peoria (Ill.) Manual just finished up his freshman year of high school, but he already holds an offer from the Illini.

Miller was in Champaign for an unofficial visit on Tuesday, his first chance to spend time getting to know Brad Underwood and his staff.

"I thought the visit went really well yesterday," Miller said. “It's still home and as the last staff did, the new staff made me feel welcome, which was very nice.”

Miller is just back from the annual Super Soph Camp in Atlanta, and invite-only camp that includes the nation’s top 100 rising sophomores. He made the all-star team at the event.

On his visit to Illinois, Miller got a tour of the campus and facilities and watched current Illini players run in an open gym.

"I took a whole visit in the arena, watched some open gym, then I sat down and talked to the staff,” Miller said. “I didn't get to workout this time because I was still banged up from camp and driving in the car for ten hours on Sunday.”

According to Miller, two standouts from the open gym were point guard Te’Jon Lucas and forward Michael Finke. He liked the intensity of the workout.

“Guys were working hard and pushing each other,” he said.

Miller was not the only recruit on campus. Illinois also hosted 2019 forward Chris Payton from Bloomoington (Ill.). Payton picked up an offer from the Illini on his visit.

"That's good for Chris,” Miller said. “His offer came right after we left, so we didn't get a chance to talk much about it. But we have talked a little about playing together in college.”
