Source: Beatty dismissed

A source familiar with the situation confirmed that Illinois has dismissed co-offensive coordinator Chris Beatty. Big Ten Network analyst Howard Griffith, a former Illini player, broke the news on Twitter.
Beatty, who was hired just a year ago, was the primary playcaller for the Illini during a season in which it ranked 119th of 120 FBS team in total offense and points per game.

A statement from the University confirmed Beatty's dismissal.
"Illinois football coach Tim Beckman announced today a change on the coaching staff with co-offensive coordinator/quarterback coach Chris Beatty not being retained. A national search for an offensive coordinator will begin immediately
"Chris Beatty is an outstanding person and a good coach," Beckman said. "His family will always be a part our Illini football family. I wish him the best as he moves forward with his career."
FootballScoop.com reports that co-offensive coordinator Billy Gonzales will remain on staff but solely as the wide receivers coach.
