Illinois signee M.J. Rivers put together a spectacular senior season at Lone Star High School in the Dallas area.
In leading his team to a 12-2 record and a trip to the Texas 5A Division II Region II finals, Rivers completed 130 of 201 passes for 2,611 yards and 28 touchdowns. A true-dual threat, Rivers also rushed for 950 yards and an additional 21 TD's.
That performance had Illinois fans worried that a top program would swoop in and steal Rivers when the early signing period opened last week, but he never wavered.
“I just really love the school," Rivers said. "I was set with where I wanted to go. It was an easy sell with me."
