May recaps Illini visit

With the Illini recruiting efforts picking up steam, Olympia Fields (Ill.) Rich Central defensive lineman Caylon May stopped by Champaign for a visit on Wednesday.

May spent some time getting to know the Illini staff and the school better. He had previously been to Illinois in the spring.

“It was a good visit,” May said. “For me it was recapping stuff from when I first visited.”

Defensive line coach Mike Phair is his Illinois recruiter.

“When I got there, I talked to Coach Phair and got acquainted with the staff,” May said. “After that they showed me around and we toured the campus.”

Currently unranked by Rivals.com, May holds offers from Colorado State and most of the MAC schools. He may take a trip to Bowling Green sometime soon.

Illinois is looking to add defensive linemen to their 2017 class to fill the void left when five seniors move on after the upcoming year.

Though May doesn’t currently hold an offer from Illinois, he hopes it materializes in the months ahead.

“They want to watch my senior year and my film,” May said. “That would definitely be a big offer. “
