With offers under his belt from all over the MAC, Morgan Park senior linebacker Sean Williams has another school he’s got high on his radar — Illinois.

“Recruiting is going well right now,” Williams said. “It’s very exciting to hear from new schools. Recruiting has picked up as it gets closer and closer to signing day.”

Williams will visit Eastern Michigan on January 23rd and Illinois on January 31st as the days tick down towards signing day.

“I’ll be looking for things like the vibe that I get from the coaches. Because it’s important to me to play for coaches that really want me to be a part of their program,” Williams said.

The prospect of an offer from Illinois is something that Williams has only dreamed of until recently.

“I’m excited that Illinois could be potentially be my first Big Ten offer. I know I can play in the Big Ten, and it would be very exciting for me, my family and my football family,” Williams said.

Even though Williams original recruiter - former Illini linebackers coach Mike Ward - is now at Toldeo — Williams still has a good relationship with the rest of the Illini staff.

“After all the coaching changes I feel that I am a good fit for the defense that they will be running this upcoming season,” Williams said. “I have good relationships with quite a few of their coaches and they said they have been reviewing my film and will be contacting me more often.”

On his upcoming trips, the 6-2, 225-pound prospect will be looking for several things.

“I will also be looking at how the players get along with each other and the coaches, just to see if I can see myself playing with the guys,” Williams said. “Meeting some of the people on the academic side of things is important to me too, so I can know all the resources I have available to me.”
