The recruiting world has been buzzing as of late when it comes to the University of Illinois. But lets' not forget that in-state wings Aaron Jordan and D.J. Williams got the ball rolling.
Jordan, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Plainfield (Ill.) East, committed to the Illini back in January and has been a staple on the Illini campus ever since. He was back in Champaign this past weekend for his official visit.
"This weekend was special," Jordan said. "I really felt the love from Illini Nation. Riding around campus and being acknowledged by the students made me remember part of the reason I chose Illinois. You definitely meet more people on official visits."
Head coach John Groce gave Jordan the same red carpet treatment that other top tier recruits receive, committed or not. He got the full tour, and attended the Illini's Homecoming football game against Minnesota.
Another special part of the visit that made a major impact for Jordan was getting to see his future teammates more on a personal level.
"It was nice getting to know the team better--it was awesome!," Jordan said. "All of them are great guys, and I see us having much success in the future there."
Jordan was named to the Chicago Sun-Times All-Area team following his junior season, leading the Plainfield East Bengals to an 18-8 record. He averaged nearly 20 points per game and shot 50 percent from behind the arc.
Jordan is a four-star recruit for Groce by Rivals.com and ranked fourth in the state of Illinois. He is set to sign his letter of intent on Nov. 13 in a ceremony at Plainfield East HS.
