Junior offensive lineman Trevor Campbell from Naperville (Ill.) Central was on hand to watch the Illini upset Nebraska on Saturday at Memorial.
Though the 6-foot-5, 280-pound Campbell doesn't yet hold an offer from Illinois, interest is definitely growing.
"I don't have an offer yet, but they invited me to a game. They are checking out my film and seeing good things. They haven't seen everything because it's the middle of the season."
Campbell's film through the first six games is impressive. He's a versatile and athletic lineman, with the frame to play at over 300 pounds at the next level.
"I play guard and tackle," Campbell said. "I'm not really sure where I'll play in college yet. My season is going really well. We're 5-1 right now."
Naperville Central ranks No. 5 in the latest IHSA Class 8A poll, and are coming off of a 34-14 win over Batavia last Friday.
On the recruiting front, Campbell holds a MAC offer and is getting strong interest from some Big Ten schools.
"I have (an offer from) Toledo," Campbell said. "I've also talked to Purdue and Indiana."
According to Campbell, he wants to get out to game at all three schools this season.
While at Illinois, Campbell got to see the campus and spend some time with the coaching staff, including offensive line coach Tom Brattan.
"He's a really nice guy and really enthusiastic about what he does," Campbell said about Brattan.
