Illinois is first official visit for 3-star lineman

MORE: Big recruiting weekend for Illini

Illinois gets the first official visit for 3-star offensive guard Josh Fedd-Jackson from Montvale (NJ) St. Joseph’s.

Along with several top Illini recruiting targets, Fedd-Jackson will be on campus in Champaign this weekend.

This weekend will be the first opportunity for Fedd-Jackson to check out the Illinois program in person.

“I just want to see how I like the school and the city,” Fedd-Jackson said. “They have a great coaching staff, offensive line coach, and obviously the head coach.”

The Illini are looking to add size and talent to their offensive line and have spots for at least two more linemen in the 2017 class.

O-line Luke Butkus has been heavily involved in the recruitment of Fedd Jackson.

“Me and Coach Butkus talk often,” Fedd-Jackson said. “He says I’m one of their top guys and I have a chance to come in there and see the field immediately.”

Illinois is first on his visit schedule, and Fedd-Jackson also has upcoming trips to NC State, Boston College, and Syracuse.

A mid-January decision is the plan, but that could change if Fedd-Jackson is sold on a school during one of his official visits.

“Right now, I have four scheduled,” Fedd-Jackson said. “If two go right, I may cancel the other two.

Illinois and NC State get the first crack at selling Fedd-Jackson on their programs. The Wolfpack will be next to host Fedd-Jackson.

“I feel like I have a good relationship with both of them,” Fedd-Jackson said.
