Illini RB target updates recruitment

Running back is a need position for Illinois in the 2015 class. 3-star Trai Sharp from Carrboro (NC) is one of 16 backs who currently hold an offer from the Fighting Illini.
Schools that Sharp says he is hearing the most from include Duke, Louisville, and NC State. He was on a visit this weekend, and plans to take another trip in two weeks. Sharp says he is "wide open" so far.

"I went to UNC-Charlotte this weekend, and I will be at Louisville in a couple of weeks," Sharps said. "That's all I have set up right now. Right now I have offers from Illinois, Purdue, Duke, NC State, and Appalachian St."
The Illini offered Sharp last fall during a junior season in which he put up over 2,000 yards rushing and scored 38 touchdowns. OLB coach Al Seamonson works the Tobacco Road area for Illinois, and he heads up Sharp's recruitment. The Illinois staff stays in contact, and they made a trip south to Sharp's high school recently.
"I talk to coach Beckman a couple of weeks ago," Sharp said. "I really like them as well, and I like their coaching staff. They have a lot of experience."
Illinois will have to fight off some in-state schools for Sharp, with NC State and Duke two programs that appear to be in good positions. A decision is still down road though, so the Illini staff still has time to sell Sharp on their program.
"I plan to wait awhile," Sharp said about his college decision. "I'm going to give it time. I haven't set a complete date. It will be soon after next football season."
