Miller arrived on campus Friday night and got to spend some time hanging out and talking with some current Illinois players to get the lowdown on the program.
"I spent some time with Jaylon Dunlap and Marchie Murdoch," Miller said. "They told me it's good and like a family around here. I got to experience that. Everybody is real close and you can trust all of your teammates."
Long and lean, Miller can is a deep threat receiver who can go up and get the football. He put together a solid junior campus at Bishop Dune with 35 receptions for 480 yards and 10 touchdowns. Miller said he is working on adding some bulk to his frame during the off-season.
The visit to Illinois made a strong impression on Miller, and he is building a good bond with his possible future position coach Mike Bellamy.
"It's real good environment at Illinois," Miller said. "I like everything about his school right now. I talked to Coach Bellamy. He's real cool and nice guy. He's completely honest and tells you the truth, and I like the way he coaches."
One more visit is on tap this spring for Miller. No clear-cut favorites have emerged yet, but Illinois has put themselves in good position to complete for his services.
"I have offers from Oregon State, California, Illinois, Tulsa , Southern Mississippi, Colorado, and SMU," Miller said. "I'm going to Cal on April 26. That's the only other visit I'm taking before my officials. No one has jumped out, but I can tell Illinois is going to be one of my favorites until the end of the recruiting process."
Miller plans to wait until after his senior high school season to make the final call on his college destination.
"I think probably in November or December," he said. "I'm looking for a great education, a good coaching staff, and just like this school - a good family environment."
