Illini land 3-star lineman

The Illinois 2015 recruiting class increased to five commitments on Saturday with the pledge of Indianapolis (Ind.) Bishop Chatard lineman Adam Solomon.
Solomon announced his decision on Twitter: "Proud to announce that I will be playing football for the University of Illinois in 2015! Can't wait to begin yet another journey! #illinifb"

Solomon, a 6-foot-6, 290-pound tackle, chose the Illini over offers from Michigan State, Duke, Cincinnati, Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, Purdue, Syracuse, and others.
"I'm super excited about the commitment," Solomon told Rivals Midwest analyst Josh Helmholdt. "It's a dream come true and I can't wait to get things started with the Illini."
Solomon was recruited by Illini offensive line coach A.J. Ricker. Rivals.com ranks him a 3-star prospect and the No. 60 offensive tackle in nation.
He joins Jacksonville (Ill.) product Gabe Megginson as the second offensive lineman to commit to Illinois. The Illini plan to take at least five O-linemen in the class.
Solomon had great things to say about the Illini and the coaching staff when he visited earlier this year for a spring practice.
"The coaches are great family guys and they really care about you, but at the same time they want you to excel in the classroom and on the football field," Solomon said. "That's something that is important to me. It's and up and coming program and something to really be excited about."
Solomon commitment moves #Illini up to No. 7 in Big Ten and No. 45 nationally in the Rivals team recruiting rankings.
