Illini host 2016 defensive back

Illinois recently hosted 2016 cornerback Julian Love from LaGrange Park (Ill.) Nazareth Academy for an unofficial visit.
The 5-foot-11, 165 Love holds an offer from the Illini, and is getting interest from a host of others including Big Ten foes Ohio State, Northwestern, Penn State, Wisconsin, and Michigan State.

While on campus in Champaign, Love got to check out the Illini on the practice field.
"I liked how intense the practice was," Love said. "Tim Banks the DB coach was really on them about turnovers. I believe they had five turnovers forced during the practice."
Love picked up the offer from Illinois after working out at their satellite camp in Chicago-land at Maine South High School in June.
Illini assistant Alex Golesh heads up the recruitment, and the two had a chance to talk during Love's visit to Champaign.
"I had a meeting with the head coach Tim Beckman, Banks, and my recruiting coordinator Coach Golesh," Love said. "They talked to me about my season this year, and what I liked about the practice."
Other than the Big Ten schools that are on him, Love likes Notre Dame and is hoping to eventually pick up an offer from the Irish.
As a sophomore, Love helped to lead the Nazareth Roadrunners to an 8-3 record, as they advanced to the second round of the IHSA Class 5A playoffs. He expects and even better campaign in 2014.
"We are going to be very good this year," Love said. "We are definitely a contender for state. One of my goals is to be more of a leader and help the younger guys. We have a very young team."
A two way player in high school, Love said the Illini are recruiting him to play either corner or safety, depending on how he develops physically over the next year.
"I start at safety in high school, but I can play corner at the next level," Love said. "On offense I play running back and slot receiver. At all my camps I work out on defense. That's probably my true position."
