Georgetown adds four-star combo forward
Over the weekend, the 6-foot-9 junior combo forward from North Carolina who plays at the Miller School in Virginia saw all that he needed to see. Sunday morning, Copeland committed to the Hoyas.
"I went up on Friday and went to the Syracuse game and all that," Copeland told Rivals.com. "They have like the total package basically. Great academics, great coaching and a great environment. I think I fit in with their style of play."
A long and lanky forward who ranks No. 45 nationally in the 2014 Rivals150, Copeland is similar in stature and game to a couple of current Hoyas who have had plenty of success.
The four-star prospect knows he needs to add weight and continue to develop, but he sees where he can help upon his arrival in the new Big East.
"Definitely my versatility will help, because I don't think Otto will still be there and Greg might not be, either," Copeland said. "I just want to come in there and bring energy to the team and help any way that I can."
This spring and summer, Copeland will make one final run on the grassroots circuit with the Garner Roads Bulldogs on the Adidas circuit. He'll do so without having to worry about his recruitment, meaning he can focus on wins.
"It hasn't really sunk in yet with all these people calling," Copeland said of his commitment. "When I get home, I'll think about it more. It will be nice to get on the circuit and not have to worry about it and just focus on winning games."
