Ki-Jana Evans decommitment; what's next?
reported yesterday by BroncoBlitz on The Zoo, Chicago offensive lineman Ki-Jana Evans is no longer committed to Western Michigan for the class of 2013. While the exact reason for the decision is unclear, Evans does not appear to be committing to another school at this time.As
The news leaves WMU with no commitments for the class. This may be a cause for concern for some, though the Broncos under head coach Bill Cubit have traditionally gained most of their commitments in the fall and winter when more has shaken out with BCS level schools.
Perhaps a bigger concern is that the decommitment comes at the offensive line position, where the Broncos are looking to stock up in this cycle. Western Michigan is expecting to take five or six at the position, and Evans was quite high on the board, so it is undoubtedly a blow.
Last week, Evans had claimed offers from Minnesota and Indiana, but it now appears that Minnesota is full at the position, and the status of the Indiana offer is unclear. At any rate, Evans is not expected to have his college plans sorted out any time in the immediate future.
Better news may be on the way, as South Lyon (Mich.) East quarterback Cameron Thomas is believed to be close to committing to Western Michigan. BroncoBlitz is working to confirm this news as soon as possible.
