Adidas Superstar Showcase- Sunday

BOCA RATON, Fla.- After the juniors and seniors took the floor on Saturday at the 2nd annual Adidas Superstar Showcase, it was the youngsters turn to hit the court on Sunday. Taking the floor were some South Florida's top sophomores, freshman and even a few promising eighth graders. After running with the older guys on Saturday, 2013 four-star prospect .Malik Price-Martin was the cream of the crop while 2013 combo guard D.J. White was a problem for all of the other guards in attendance

Sunday's top performers

Malik Price-Martin, PF- A four-star prospect in the class of 2013, the slender power forward was able to score whenever he really wanted to. He consistently beat other big men and most guards down the floor and his mobility and quickness could help to make him a very dangerous weapon down the road. He will block some shots, scores with either hand around the rim and shows developing face-up skills. Adding strength is the most important thing for him to do.

D.J. White, SG/PG- A physical, athletic and well built combo guard, the 15 year old sophomore was the most explosive guy in the gym. He uses quick crossovers, stop and go moves and hesitation dribbles to get to the rim where he's got a body that allows him to finish through contact. He's got the tools to be a high level defender and his jumper didn't look bad in catch and shoot situations where he already had his feet set..

Ian Malone, PF- This was the second weekend in a row that we were able to see the sophomore from Montverde (Fla.) Academy. A tough, fundamentally sound and clever kid, he's a high post four man who can shoot the ball and get to the rim off the bounce. He loves to catch at the free throw line extended, rip the ball though and take two dribble drives going left for dunks.

RaShawn Powell, PG- He piqued our interest the previous weekend at "The Workout" and sophomore point guard was at it again in Boca. He's not the biggest guy around at around 5-foot-10 with a slender frame, but he's got a true point guard's feel for the game and makes open jumpers.

Schuyler Rimmer, PF- Nice looking four man has good skills, a body to work with and an aggressive mentality on the offensive end. He can finish jump hooks with either hand, makes short to medium range jumpers and has good length. Improving his quickness from end to end and inside the lane should be an area of focus.

Justice Montgomery, PG- The younger brother of Jordan Montgomery who impressed on Saturday, Justice is a 5-foot-11 freshman. Even though he's very young, he shows a considerable feel for the game, navigates ball screens like a vet and makes the right decision pretty much every time. Back off of him, and he will knock down a jumper.

D.J. Boals, SG/PG- In town from his home in Tennessee, he's an athletic combo guard who made lots of positive plays. He thrives in transition or attacking defenders off of slick crossovers and finishing at the rim. A good defender, he's got balance to his game.

Jason Wilkinson, PF- It's going to be interesting to see where this sophomore is two years from now. Just coming into his own physically, he's a growing 6-foot-6, maybe 6-foot-7, insider with length and deceptive athleticism. A great sign was the way he stepped up to compete when matched up with Price-Martin.

Tyrell Williams, PF- The 6-foot-6 freshman missed the first half of the day because he was busy playing drums in the church band. As soon as he hit the floor he was busy grabbing every rebound in the gym. He's got the ideal basketball player's frame with long arms, good shoulders and lean strength. Certainly one to watch down the road.

More Sunday notables

A teammate to be of Tyrell Williams at Miami (Fla.) Norland, 6-foot-4 swingman Maurice McDaniel is another freshman with potential. A fine athlete with good size and length, he likes to attack the rim and has promising ball skills. … Pound for pound there weren't any kids in camp who were tougher than 5-foot-8 point guard Dallas Moore. A sophomore at Boga Ciega High, he's got outstanding quickness, is a solid decision maker and knocks down open jumpers. … He actually played on both Saturday and Sunday, but 2014 wing Adonys Henriquez really got settled in on Sunday. A 6-foot-4 wing who can handle it a bit, Henriquez went on a tear from behind the three point line. At one point, he hit six of seven from deep during a 10 minute or so span of game time. … A freshman at South Florida Prep, 5-foot-9 point guard Lourawls Narin was one of the more explosive guys. He's small but very explosive and plays with power heading to the rim. … Hard working Romas Marcinkevicius from Pine Crest high should be one of guys to help step up and make up for all of the scoring they lose with the departure of Brandon Knight. The 6-foot-6 post man played big boy ball around the rim and used his strength to punish guys. …

Speaking of Knight, St. Thomas Aquinas freshman Eugene Harvey looks like he could pass for his brother. A 6-foot-5 forward with some athleticism, it's too early to tell whether he ends up as a three or a four but he's a young guy with some tools. … Wellington high sophomore Fred Millar was among the camp's top passers. A solid decision maker, he's a 6 footer with a chance to blossom as a prospect if he can become a reliable jump shooter and add some more strength. … We're going to make a bet that 6-foot-5 combo forward Jeffrey Merton is much more advanced as a player this time next year. The freshman at Seacrest Country Day is a grinder with some athleticism and a knack for finding the ball. … 8th grader Kamil Williams who impressed on Saturday was again impressive before running out of gas. He's just a pup, but looks to have a pretty bright future. … Finally, at 6-foot-7, Brennan Jones has terrific size for a young post prospect. The 8th grader from Lake Worth already runs the floor pretty well, has exceptional hands and is a very good passer. He's got long arms and huge feet, so odds are he's got some growing left to do. …
