Durr makes five for MSU

Lashard Durr's first trip to Mississippi State came at a track meet last spring.

It was then that the Harrison Central cornerback decided that he wanted to attend college in Starkville. The only issue was a scholarship.

That technicality was cleared up Friday afternoon when cornerbacks coach Deshea Townsend offered the 6-foot-1, 181-pounder and he committed right there on the spot.

"He told me they'd like to have me and wanted to get me on their team so they can work with me," Durr said. "He said they were going to offer me and wanted me to commit so I told him I was committed."

Durr chose the Bulldogs over offers from Louisiana-Lafayette and Oklahoma. His teammate Tito Windham committed to the Sooners a week ago. Those recent offers were not able not overcome his desire to remain in-state and play for Mississippi State.
