MSU commits: 'he has a lot of upswing'

This is the sixth in a SpartanMag.com series profiling the latest on Michigan State's 2013 verbal commitments, with insight from the commitments' high school coaches:

Dennis Finley

  • Representing: Detroit Cass Tech
  • Size/Position: 6-6, 285, Offensive Tackle

The Skinny: Finley is ranked the No. 8 player in Michigan by Rivals.com and the No. 31 offensive tackle in the nation. He committed to MSU over an array of impressive offers, including Ohio State, Michigan and Wisconsin. He's quite simply one of the more impressive and intriguing prospects in MSU's class this year.

Dennis Finley played no small role in the last two Detroit Cass Tech Division I state championships. It would have been hard for his role to be small considering he stands at 6-6, 285 pounds.

But Michigan State became the top choice for Finley in pursuing a college career. He's obviously hoping to play a huge role as a Spartan.

"I felt like that's where I'd be comfortable for four or five years," he said. "I'll be comfortable around their players and the coaches."
