It is well known fact that Newnan safety Tray Matthews, a Georgia commit, and Auburn High School (Auburn, Ala.) linebacker Reuben Foster are best friends.
Matthews told UGASports less than two weeks ago that the two would "definitely" play for the same team at the next level, and that isn't the first or the last time it has been said.
Fast forward to Wednesday night when Foster sent word to multiple media outlets that he would be holding a press conference at 2 p.m. CDT to make a statement regarding his recruitment.
One would think that Matthews would have a good idea as to the purpose of the press conference or the message that is to be relayed.
According to the four star defensive back, that is not the case.
"I honestly don't know what this thing is about," Matthews told UGASports on Thursday. "I don't know what he is going to do, really."
Not only does Matthews claim to not know what is going to happen, he is also not sure about a prediction.
"I don't know what I think he will do," laughed Matthews. "I don't know if he will even decommit. He might just say he is still committed or he might just say he is thinking about Auburn."
Matthews plans to be at Dawg Night on Friday night, but despite what has been reported by multiple outlets, he says that he still isn't decided about what he will do this weekend.
"I think the plan is to go to Auburn this weekend," he said. "But I'm not sure. I'm going to be at Dawg Night tomorrow night, but I may go to Alabama or Auburn on Saturday or sometime this weekend. I don't know yet."
When asked if he would be following his teammate no matter where he goes, Matthews is still undecided on that point as well.
"I'm not sure yet," said Matthews. "I guess we will see how tomorrow night goes and how this weekend goes."
