Cass Tech OT on Spartan radar?

One of the fastest rising recruits in the state of Michigan for the class of 2013 is offensive tackle Dennis Finley of Cass Tech High School in Detroit. SpartanMag.com was able to speak with the 6-foot-5, 285-pound prospect and go the details on his recruitment.

A few weeks ago Finley attended that Adidas Maximum Exposure Combine in Ann Arbor and was cited as one of the top performing offensive linemen at the event. In recent weeks Finley has seen his scholarship list expand significantly. With the spring evaluation period beginning this week (april 15th), his offer list could expand even more over the next month. Finley spoke with SpartanMag.com about the schools that have already extended a scholarship and the feedback he is receiving from college coaches

"Right now I have offers from Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Western Michigan, Cincinnati, Syracuse and Purdue," he said. "The coaches have said they like my footwork and the way I run for a big guy. They also say they like how I come off the ball."

With multiple Big Ten scholarship already on the table, we talked about his college visits and what he is hearing from Michigan State University.

"I visited Illinois not too long ago," Finley stated. "It was nice there, I liked it a lot. I have been up to Michigan State before, my cousin graduated from there and my sister attends there now. I spoke with one of their players recently and he told me about the Green and White Game. I will be going up there on the 28th for that event."

Michigan State could be in good shape to land Finley if they do extend him a scholarship offer. The rival Wolverines have already loaded up on offensive linemen and the Spartans still need to add two more tackles to the class of 2013. We spoke with Finley about the possibility of getting an offer from the Michigan State staff.

"I would definitely consider them and would be excited to get an offer from them because that would mean they see things in me that they like," he said. "In addition to having family members up there, I also know that it is a good environment."

Finley plans on attending the Sound Mind -Sound Body Camp that will be held in June. Last year at that event the Michigan State staff was able to scout several prospects there and actually offered Jamal Lyles shortly afterwards. It is likely that Finley will be one of the players the Spartans are closely evaluating.

SpartanMag.com will be sure to follow-up with Finley after the Green and White game. He should get some quality feedback as to where he stands on the Spartan recruiting board and the potential for a scholarship offer.
