Gaskins' big day lifts Rebels to win

RebelGrove.com Late in the second half, Ole Miss freshman guard Trevor Gaskins caught the ball on the block, jumped and missed a reverse layup. Maybe, he was too close.
Gaskins came off the bench to make a freshman-record seven three-pointers in the Rebels' 97-63 win over Mississippi Valley State at Tad Smith Coliseum Saturday.
Gaskins left the game to a standing ovation - not a bad way to start a collegiate career.
"I was just shooting," he said.
Gaskins, like most of the Rebels (1-0), got off to a slow start. He missed a pair of three-point shots to start his career at Ole Miss.
"I took my first two shots a little too quickly," he said. "I should've swung the ball more and tried to get more of a rhythm shot."
